Nha Trang, Vietnam
Floating bar
Disillusioned with the quality of the local coastline, Ben and myself decided to try out one of these local island-hopping excursions for 5 dollars with Mama Linh tours (and sure enough Mama Linh came along!). Proved to be a bargain!
We went snorkling off one island and the coral was amazing... visibility in the water was at least 20 ft and the fish life was abundant and colourful (including some pretty unwelcome small jellyfish... but they seemed to disintegrate when you swam into em *shrug*)... all was well until we happened to see one of the other boats empty its load from the toilets into the sea and we spent the next 10 minutes shouting at people telling them to avoid the "floaters"
This was followed by a FILLING lunch of fresh fish and spring rolls (Vietnamese style... yummm!) and a raucous sing-song where EVERYBODY was encouraged to sing a song from their nation. Of course Muggins here shouts "Ireland" first prompting the guys to start into Molly Malone at 120 bpm... erm.. well I *cough* "sang" my bit... and promised myself to never sing again judging by the reaction...
Then went off to another island to chill out on the beach and had a "floating bar" in the middle of the sea where we all sat on life-rings drinking down free Mulberry wine until we were sick of it! (Of course you had to pay for beer... 10000 dong.. not bad.. about 50 cents)
All in all a good day was had.... time to sleep now and head out to partay later....
