Dalat, Vietnam
3 day trek!
Ive just arrived back after Ben (British lad Im sharing accommodation costs with in Dalat!) and myself took a 3 day (2 night) trek into the mountains around Dalat using a local tour operator.
It cost a whopping 52 dollars but proved to be money well spent because we saw some amazing scenery, wildlife and jungle-trekking. My 200 euro trekking shoes were finally put to the test and PASSED with flying colours! We were staying in a small camp site beside a massive lake just below Dalat where you could swim in the clean (and green!) water while watching the sunset over the distant forest-covered mountains! Ah bliss!
Accommodation was a bit crap (we shared a tiny tent) but didnt have any bug probs and the fresh air/exercise was a welcome break from the usual cramped air-con bus experience. On day three I was pretty low on energy and was falling around the place... so it was relief when we finally arrived at our destination "Chicken Village" (a place featuring a gigantic 10 metre high concrete chicken!)
Time on my visa is quickly running out so Ill have to run off to the next place (Nha Trang) tommorrow morning and will have to miss out on the "Crazy House" and "mad monk" (as Niamh told me about)
Ah well Ill see those on the next trip in a few years!!!
Off now to a hotel pub to watch some CNN on the war (the only place in town that has CNN!!)... laterzzz
