Rottsnest Island, Australia
Thanksgiving Australia Style
First let us say we are truly thankful for each and every one of our family and friends - We hope your Thanksgiving Day will be spent with your loved ones sharing a good meal and plenty of laughter.
Since Australia does not celebrate Thanksgiving, Tony & I decided Rottsnest Island would be a good place to be so off we went for a day in the sun.
We took the ferry to Rottsnest Island and caught the bus that circles the island (Rottsnest is void of cars so your choice is bus or bicycle). We brought our snorkel gear so we were ready to dive in ! It was sunny but the winds were blowing pretty hard so it was chilly to say the least. Our 1st snorkeling spot was at Parker's Point. The cove was nice and the snorkeling was OK. We spent 1.5hrs there and then walked to the next cove about 1km around the bend, Salmon Bay, to catch the bus to Little Parakeet Bay. Parakeet is on the other side of the island so more protected from the wind which made it a bit warmer [but not by much]. Tony braved the waters while I could only get in up to my waist before I bailed and got into dry clothing.
The waters were beautiful - crystal clear all shades of blue.
Happy Thanksgiving to all ~
