Heading East...
Left Margaret River this morning - I parked outside a car wreckers in the Industrial complex and managed to steal a shower from a backpackers hostel called the "Inne Town" or something.
Took the opportunity to scope out a cave called Mammoth Cave, which was closed at the time but I was able to sneak a view through the closed gate. It was nice but nothing particularly spectacular (certainly not as good as the ones in Laos) and at 15 dollars a pop I decided to give the caves in the area a miss.
Drove down to Augusta to see where the Indian Ocean meets the Southern Ocean plus took a slight detour to Hamelyn Bay, a white beach that looks out onto the southernmost point of the Indian Ocean... straight across is nothing but brine until you get to South Africa.
Finally, passed through some of the most lush green pretty little towns and national parks along the main highway that reminded me of what I imagine Holland or Switzerland would look like in summer... one of the towns is even called Denmark?!? Some of the eucalypt forests had 80 metre high trees.
Just arrived in Albany which seems like a pleasant little town. Supposedly this is the last big town before I head east to Adelaide.. not much in between. Nevertheless Im really looking forward to crossing the Nullarbour this week!
