Chinatown, Singapore
On the road again...
Here we are again so soon after Vietnam. My best friend Ailsa has been on a 6-month trip to China and Chinese-speaking countries to study Mandarin. This time it has been my turn to tag along and join in with parts of her adventure. This trip was intended to be all about the Chinese New Year celebrations in Singapore as a finale to her travels. Then, a few weeks ago, I discovered that another friend, Jackie, was heading home to Kota Kinabalu in Borneo to celebrate the New Year with her family. She invited us to join them so we have a chance to see the family side of the celebrations as well as the public parades and fireworks in Singapore. What a great way to experience both sides!
- bus to Reading delayed by accident, RailAir coach waited for me to buy a ticket, T5 only 35 minutes.
- arrived
15:35 but couldn't drop bags off until
16:00. Changed money, dropped bags, easy through security.
- bought Benefit, no Yo Sushi - boo.
- ham egg and chips and pint to fill an hour, flight delayed by an hour, Tanqueray £13.
- Bridge of Spies, Man from U.N.C.L.E., most of The Intern
- slept a little in 30-45 minute doses.
- saw Ailsa waving at me through the glass before I'd collected my bag, which was lovely. Big hugs with both girls - Christina v sore throat and feeling poorly
- MRT and short walk to hotel.
- dinner at food court nearby
- exhausted but had difficulty sleeping as brain wouldn't shut down.
