Cartagena, Colombia

Battlements and more churches!!

Very quick entry here and I´ll try to write up the rest later...

  • Cartagena beautiful. Lots of history and battlements (the wall surrounding the old city was built after the pirate Sir Francis Drake sacked the place for 100 days!)
  • Catedral de San Pedro contains the mummified body of "the Slave of the Slaves", a priest called Pedro who went out of his way to help African slaves in need
  • Lots of classy restaurants, although the old city is rather expensive by Colombian standards (about same price for meals as in Dublin)
  • Two days of photographs.... check them out on the gallery to the left

Despite staying 3 nights, my hotel (Hotel Toledo - cheap but full of Colombian chavs and women with implants!) forgot to charge me for 1 night... I left quickly and quietly for Santa Marta and Taganga on a private bus...

Moiagasm!

After previously dipping my toes in Latin America via trips to Cuba and Central America, it's time to go for the big splash! 3 1/2 months to take in as much as I can, armed with little more than my camera, laptop and a few dodgy Spanish phrases.
