At Sea Destination Victoria, BC

At Sea - Destination Victoria, BC

We got to sleep in - YEAH!   A leisurely start to the day - breakfast on the Lido deck @ 9:00am - Disembarkation Seminar & Crew Farewell @ 10am.

We did our last minute duty free shopping (I was a sucker for some jewelry and a jacket !), then we played cards poolside for most of the afternoon.  We reminisced about the week we've spent in Alaska and how none of us want the cruise to end.  But all good things do come to an end, so we day dreamed about the next adventure we might do (there is 110 day cruise around the world that sounded pretty darned nice... better start saving now !).

We docked in Victoria, BC at 6:00pm and all decided to stay on board rather than go into town.  With only 5hrs in port, we just wanted to kick back.  We dined in the Lido Café, shared our last bottle of Champagne and then headed back to the cabin to pack for an early disembarkation tomorrow.

We've opted for Expedite Disembarkation so will be up bright and early and should be off the ship by 7:30am - 7:45am.  By the time we get the car and load luggage, we should be on the road around 9:00am putting us back home around 12:00pm.

Some fun facts -

  • We'll have traveled 2,147 miles by the time we dock in Seattle on Sunday, August 1st
  • All Foreign flag ships departing from the US are required to stop in a foreign port prior to returning to the US port - thus the reason for our stop in Victoria, BC
  • Ketchikan averages more than 180 inches of rain per year. They've had 9 straight days w/out rain and if it doesn't change soon, they'll have to resort to actually buying water.

Ketchikan residents pay $9.00 for 1 ½ lbs of ground beef, $13.00 for 4 chicken breasts & $4.00 for a gallon of milk.

How time flies - we've had a great time, saw some beautiful scenery and had some terrific experiences these past 7 days.  I know I've not been able to post all the photos because of the horrible internet connections, so will do so when I get home for your viewing pleasure !

Thanks for traveling with us !
